Dr. Ahmad Wali Zalmai is a distinguished pediatrician with nearly three decades of dedicated service in child health and wellbeing. A graduate of Kabul Medical University in 1995, he later completed his pediatric specialty training in 2007, equipping him with advanced expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of childhood illnesses.
With over 29 years of experience and having provided care to more than 100,000 pediatric patients, Dr. Zalmai is one of the most respected figures in the field of pediatrics in Herat and beyond. He previously served at the Indira Gandhi Institute of Pediatrics, one of the premier pediatric centers in the country, and currently contributes to the academic growth of future doctors as a faculty member at Qalib Medical University.
Dr. Zalmai is known not only for his clinical acumen and professional integrity, but also for his kindness, humility, and deep compassion toward his patients. He currently serves as the Chief of the Pediatric and Neonatology Department at Aria Apollo Hospital and is one of its founding members. His leadership has been instrumental in developing a comprehensive pediatric service that includes general pediatrics, neonatal intensive care (NICU), pediatric intensive care (PICU), and infectious disease management with dedicated isolation rooms.
His commitment to quality care, patient safety, and continuous education has made him a role model for both patients and colleagues alike.
